Our English 10 class is currently doing a Problem/Solution Projet. My group: Anika Nelson, Rachel Sporrer, and Jerod Snyder decided to research Human Trafficking. Human Trafficking is getting worse each and every day. The only way we can stop it is by telling people about it. We designed shirts to spread the word, and you can purchase them by clicking on the link, and it will take you to an order form that you can print off, and send to us.

This school year is coming to end, freshman year is almost complete. The testing begins, and the nerves kick in. At Carroll High School, the seniors are gone, grades 9-11 are still in.
I think this school year was a good one. The classes I took were hard, but not to hard. Walking around the high school and taking classes here for the first year felt pretty good actually. At first, I was pretty scared quite frankly, but when I started talking to upperclassmen, it wasn't so bad. Computer Literature and General Business were about the only classes that I took that had upperclassmen in them. Honestly, it doesn't bother me taking classes with upperclassmen because then you get to hear all the gossip and drama from not only your grade, but the grades above you, and that's always a nice thing. It's something you just have to get used to, and if not, it's something you have you'll have to deal with throughout high school.
My favorite class this year easily had to be geography. Mr. Tigges can by far make a class seem much more enjoying, and especially not as long. He's a pretty laid back guy who really communicates and enjoys talking with his students. The conversations my class had over the semester were quite hilarious. Having Khalil Brooks in our class made it twice as much fun having to deal with his quite annoying laugh that just about gets everyone. We usually had a quiz on Fridays over the things that we learned and discussed in class during the week. We studied the world by continents. We started with North America and ended in Africa. Not only did I learn new things, but I learned things that I really care about and actually take to heart. For example, in the Middle East, our country has dealt with a terrorist group called Al-Qaeda that's based out of Pakistan for last 30 years now. So many good topics, so many good memories, and a really good teacher made geography my most enjoyable class this year.
Next year will be kind of hard at first since I won't see the Class of 2012 around anymore, but it hopefully will go by as fast as this year did. We start a week, so hopefully it pays off! I'm not exactly sure on the classes I'll be taking, but I hope to have classes with some of the people I enjoy learning with!

The NBA playoffs have been currently under action the past three weeks, and it's been nothing, but excitement. The best 1st. round match up in the playoffs had to be the sixth seeded Denver Nuggets against the third seeded Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers were picked to win the series, but they had troubles doing that. The Denver Nuggets took Los Angeles to what no one was expecting, a game 7. The Lakers, under the direction of Kobe Bryant who placed second in the season scoring, took a 3-0 lead in the series. The first two games were played in LA's favor, at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. In game one, the Nuggets got down early and played catch up the whole second half. In game two, it was much closer than game one. The Denver Nugget's front office felt like they needed to make a move for the future, so they did. They completed the trade with 30 games left in the regular season. They traded their 7 year center Nene Hilario for a raw, young, and powerful center Javalee Magee. Javalee Magee was the key factor in game two for the Nuggets. Although the Denver Nuggets played some of their worst basketball, they only managed to lose by six. The series switched to Denver, the Mile High City. The Nuggets just pounded the Los Angeles Lakers in both games at the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver. Ty Lawson, Denver's point guard, scored just about 50 points total in the two games, scoring 32 in the first. Los Angeles got the first game in Denver, but the Nuggets came back and stole the second. Denver then stole another in Los Angeles, which was a tight game all the way until the final seconds of the fourth quarter. The series went back to Denver for game six. Denver's knew they had to play a perfect game in order to force a game 7, and they did exactly that. They blew out the Lakers by 27. Although the Nuggets were playing great basketball, the Lakers took the series in game 7 in Los Angeles, ruining a great run that Denver gave. The Los Angeles Lakers are now in the second round of the playoffs battling the mighty young and tough team from Oklahoma City, the Thunder. They are behind in the series 2-0.

How School Could Use Social Media
Schools are already using social network for homework postings, files, and links. Networks like Edmodo and Schoology are being used by many teachers in the Carroll Community School District. I don't think using Facebook or Twitter would be anything, but better than the social media that we are allowed to use in school today. Facebook and Twitter, both, allow you to share documents, links, and homework to show not only to your school teachers, but your friends and classmates. You could send out a mass message on a "no school" day, or when you forgot to tell your students in class. You could always use the chat messenger app on Facebook for personal messages, or communication that is usually for personal or confidential conversations. If I were to say Facebook or Twitter for school, I easily would say Facebook. Facebook just allows you to communicate more to anyone you possibly want to. Consequences for bad pictures, posts, and links on Facebook should be handled by that administration just like everything else is. I strongly believe Facebook wouldn't be an issue in our School District, and I strongly suggest the administration allowing us to have access during school.

Presidential Debate- Feb. 22nd
Wednesday evening, CNN covered the presidential debate in Arizona. Four candidates took the stage and bickered. Mitt Romney had a strong night, speaking well about his plans, but also taking words right out of the front runner's mouth Rick Santorum. Rick Santorum on the other hand had a very quiet night. Although many opportunities for Santorum to be heard, he didn't feel comfortable. Ron Paul and Newt Ginrich also had very steady nights, following up points made by Mitt Romney. Look for Rick Santorum to come back strong in the next debate to make up for his loss in Arizona's.

Technology That I Couldn't Live Without
A cell phone would be that one piece of technology that I couldn't live without. I wouldn't be able to call 911 if there were an emergency. I wouldn't be able to keep in touch with my friends if I needed to talk to them or wanted to hangout with them. Although phone bills do come out to be very high, cell phones should are for the most part are very important in each and everyone's life. For example, you are a salesman. In order to sell your product, you have to call your costumers to inform them on deals and what needs to be ordered. You wouldn't be able to do the things like ordering pizza for delivery, calling the recreational center to find out if they are still open instead of driving 5 miles south, wasting gas. I wouldn't be able to contact my family in Colorado to inform them when I will be visiting next. All of these are examples of saving time and money, things everyone love to do. Now days, cell phones are becoming more advanced in technology that will eventually eliminate the computer. Overall, a cell phone would be that one piece of technology that I couldn't live without.

Application Invention
If I had the choice to create an application of my choice, it would be based on daily news from economical, governmental, and criminal choices. Way to many people in this country go from one day to the other without knowing what's going on around them, and I think this will allow those people to open up their eyes. It would be based on not only the United States, but most of the Middle Eastern countries, Mexico, some of the African countries, and also many in North America surrounding the United States of America. People can search from titles of articles, time of occurrence, rating of article, and also the place of occurrence. You will also be able to share any article on the app to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or Blogger. This is set up to inform not only you, but the people that associate with you and around you. This app that I will be creating will be called Around The World News. This general title will give me the options to put more articles, pictures, and videos on the app from all different places.
